Interview Assignment

I was looking forward to doing this assignment on my friend who is from Turkey. But her schedule was very busy, so I did not get a chance to interview her. I resorted to interviewing my mother. I already know my mother's story, but by doing this assignment, I can share her story with others. Overall, I think the assignment was a good way to help us open our minds, and give us the opportunity to hear some really interesting stories. The assignment was very engaging and insightful. I even drew some conclusions of my own while listening to the answers my mother gave me. Although her story may not be viewed as "cool" or interesting to others, it definitely contributes to my family history.

  1. Hello Nicollette. I feel that your story was interesting to hear. Each one of us has unique stories about where we came from and where are families/friends came from and yours was just as intriguing. I found it interesting to hear that if your mom never met your dad and didn't move to Canada, you probably would have not been here today. And that would be disappointing because you are a "cool" and great person Nicki! I can relate somewhat to the feelings you had about people not viewing your story as not interesting, yet when I truly think about it, how could I say something like that. My father, just like each individual, is a great man having much to say and share. He too went through a lot growing up and although he has been in Canada now for many many years, he had his struggles (here and in Italy) and it's amazing to hear the hardships and the good times faced by him and his family. I am sure your mother is a very interesting person and I hope to hear more about her and your family!
